Building the Scout Hall

100 Years of Scouting in Danbury

Founded in 1921, Danbury Scouts celebrated 100 years of Scouting in Danbury in 2021. We hosted events at the Scout Hall and at Riffhams Campsite on Saturday 4th September. At the hall we had a display of articles and photographs through the years, we welcomed former members of the Group and had a visit by Councillor Jude Deakin (Mayor of Chelmsford 2020 – 2022). She presented a commemorative frame to St Clere’s Scout, Joseph Pain (designer of our Centenary badge), talked to some members of the Cub packs and enjoyed a slice of Centenary cake.

At Riffhams the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts spent time fire lighting, toasting marshmallows, making dens, following a Blind Trail, constructing a bridge, singing round the campfire and of course we all had cake! Three Scouts were also presented with their Gold Chief Scout Awards.
