Every Scout Group requires trustees, which form the Group Trustee Board.

The Trustee Board is a team of volunteers who work together, as charity trustees, to ensure our Scouting activities are run safely and legally. The team consists of a Chair, Treasurer and trustees.

We need people who can see things from different viewpoints, who are passionate about supporting their community and want to give young people skills for life. We also encourage every volunteer to bring their own skills, knowledge and experience to the role.

Most Trustee Boards meet four-six times a year, but effective members will volunteer for tasks in between the meetings, thus ensuring the smooth running of the Scout Group and maximising its potential for a hugely positive impact on its young members.

Just as important as leading the young people is supporting the adults who do so.

Such support releases the Trustees and Leaders to do what they do best.

If you can help with administrative tasks such as record keeping, including meeting minutes, census details, ownership of property and equipment, we’d love to hear from you.

We’ll provide training and support, so you can be sure that your role will help to maximise the potential for the Scout Group to have a hugely positive impact on its young members.

Help deliver skills for life.

Would you like the chance to go camping, hiking, kayaking and lead community projects, while helping prepare young people with skills for life? As a section leader you will do all of this and more, using your skills and learning new ones.

As part of 1st Danbury Scout Group, you will plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme for young people, making sure every young person gets the chance to spend at least one night away each year.

You’ll use your energy and creativity to help young people have fun, develop their potential and earn a wide range of badges and awards, including the prestigious Chief Scout Awards.

Of course you won’t have to do this alone – a team of supporters and the young people themselves will help you plan and deliver the programme. But it’s your enthusiasm and sense of fun and adventure that will inspire them.
